For nearly as long as I have wanted to create a "bike shop" a little different from the rest. On September 15th 2001 VELO Bicycles was opened.

To say VELO was solely my creation would be totally misleading and perhaps one of the reasons the shop has turned out as it has is because of the input from people both in and out of the bicycle industry and not just one persons ideas.

The main people who should be thanked are my wife Philippa, who's support, patience (definitely) and choice of colours were the best. Ben Hitchens , Ben put in the hours, had the ideas, had the knowledge and had the drive to get them done. Lastly, Guiseppe (Joe) D'Ercole the landlord (Scootopia) with a difference, Joe said, "give me your wish list and we will see what we can do", we were lucky to have had his creative talents and contacts. THANKS.

Experience is important and I would have to say for the age of our staff we have racked up a good few years in the bicycle industry. Some of us have worked in both the wholesale and retail side, attending such international trade shows as Interbike, Milan and Taipei. We have all raced nationally and internationally, no we are not world beaters or for that matter national champions either, but we have raced hard and for a long time with some satisfying results.

A conscious decision was made before opening that we would stock VELO with a limited range bicycles and products that would be second to none. A range that we knew worked from our own riding and retail experiences and we know will be backed up by our suppliers. This has been achieved and we are very happy & proud to have the brands we have.
